Operation Christmas Child

ACE is honored to partner with Operation Christmas Child each year! Run by Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children in need all over the world.  Each ACE student and staff member has received a shoe box that they are encouraged to fill up with gifts and practical items for another child to receive over the Christmas season.  Our goal in participating with Operation Christmas Child is to help those less fortunate in a practical way, but primarily to teach students the value of giving to others - as Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” (Acts 20:35).  What a joy it is to give to others, particularly as we approach the holiday season!

Please consider joining us in filling your child’s shoe box.

For more information about Samaritan’s Purse, look online at samaritanspurse.org/occ.  Please include $9 in each shoe box to cover the cost of shipping.  Return full boxes to school by November 9th.

Hurricane Relief

In response to the recent hurricanes that have devastated areas of our country, ACE wants to help!  In a season of so much damage, we are blessed to give in this time of need.

The Academy of Christian Education will be supporting hurricane relief efforts through World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse, both of which are reputable organizations that ACE already supports on an ongoing basis.

Each class was provided with a fishbowl to collect funds to go directly toward the ongoing relief efforts of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria and families contributed generously!  We are excited to announce that ACE families gave $3722.20 toward rebuilding efforts!  ACE is excited to have matched donations collected up to $2,000...making our total contribuition $5,722.20!!!!

Thank you for your generous giving.  In the months ahead, ACE will continue to monitor the needs in Texas, Puerto Rico, and those areas effected to evaluate if there are additional ways we can help hurricane relief efforts in a tangible way.

K3 Thanksgiving Greeting Card Competition
 FALL PICNIC

ACE Staff and Families enjoyed a wonderful afternoon this October at the APL sponsored Family Picnic!  The weather was perfect for an afternoon outside - and all who attended ate great foods and enjoyed all of the amenities of the Pavilions at Turkey Run…from the moon bounce to Claude Moore Colonial Farm. Most importantly, ACE families enjoyed time together!

Thank you to the many families who joined us and for the APL and staff at the Pavilions at Turkey Run for helping orchestrate such a wonderful event.

Jesus Said, "Feed My Lambs."   John 21:15

K3 Construction Group teams up with Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) to sponsor a Thanksgiving Card Challenge among schools in the Northern Virginia region.  Each school is invited to submit up to five pieces of art created by students in the school that interprets the Thanksgiving theme.  The winning design is featured as the K3 Thanksgiving card used to greet many of the area’s leading businesses and associations this Thanksgiving season.

We want to congratulate Riya Goyal (3rd Grade) for winning 3rd place in this year’s K3 Construction Group Thanksgiving Card Contest.  Well done, Riya!  We are very proud of your hard work and exceptional skill.  Congratulations!

 Harvest Festival

The American Harvest Festival is a wonderful ACE tradition in which classes get to experience hands-on learning about American history!

We are excited to announce that this year, at the Harvest Festival, each class will enjoy a traditional American Thanksgiving meal at lunch and will spend the day learning about the first Thanksgiving, why we celebrate Thanksgiving, and some traditions that often go along with Thanksgiving.  Our younger students will dress up as the Native Americans and Pilgrims who were present at the first Thanksgiving.

We are looking forward to a great Harvest Festival this year on Friday, November 17th.
